St. Kitts National Carnival

Visitors know it as the St. Kitts and Nevis National Carnival. The locals call it Sugar Mas. But whatever you refer to it as, one thing’s for sure: There’s no better way to experience Kittitian culture. The end of the year in St. Kitts & Nevis culminates in the National Carnival, the biggest event of the year. In the run up to Christmas and New Year, the streets erupt in a series of colorful parades, processions, and street performances. Clowns, Moko-Jumbies dancing on stilts, and troupes from all over the island entertain the crowds with their frenzied dancing to the infectious beat of soca and calypso music, while Carnival Queen and Talented Teen contestants show off dazzling costumes, months in the making.
