The British Virgin Islands (BVI) celebrates the 68th Anniversary of the Emancipation Festival. A celebration of the territory’s ancestors’ freedom from colonialism and cultural history. During this time, the BVI showcases the culture and history of its people in grand style with extravaganzas of local and international music, pageants, Food Fairs, Rise & Shine Tramps (early morning street dancing), parades of colourful costumes, gospel celebrations and folklore presentations.

The BVI’s most important cultural showcase takes place July 22nd through August 5th. 10-days of fun and frolic, a jammed packed calendar of activities as follows:

Friday July 22nd – Festival Warm-Up Tramp

Saturday July 23rd – Calypso Review, VI Musical Explosion

Sunday July 24th – Miss BVI Coronation

Wednesday July 27th – Opening Ceremony, Gospel Night

Thursday July 28th – Torch Light Procession, Village Entertainment

Friday July 29th – Food Fair, Festival Glow Night

Saturday July 30th – Soca Monarch Competition, International Soca Night

Sunday July 31st – Emancipation Service LLC – The Stickit, Freedom March, Prince & Princess Coronation, Miss Jr. BVI Coronation, Festival Ultimate Musical Mix

Monday August 1st – Rise & Shine, Parade of the Bands, Virgin Islands Culture Day

Tuesday August 2nd – International Reggae Night

Wednesday August 3rd – East End J’ouvert, Beach Day (East End), Village Entertainment

Friday August 5th – Carrot Bay Cultural Day, Farmer’s Market, Donkey Races, Water Sports
