Major events include the opening of carnival, National Calypso and Soca Competitions, National Queen Pageant, Mr. GQ, Teen Pageants, Festival of Lights-folklore night all leading up to J’ouvert followed by the parade of the bands on New Year’s Day and last lap parade on the 2nd day of January.
