Mashramani is the time of the year when all Guyanese from all walks of life get into celebratory mode and attend several events planned to mark the nation’s Republic anniversary. Guyana will be celebrating its 50th anniversary as the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. Many plans are being put in place to mark this achievement. One of the main events is the Grand Float parade in Georgetown which is reflective of the country’s diversity in its peoples and the abundance of the country’s rich flora and fauna. Several costume bands and revellers take part and enjoy the best of local and regional music throughout the day and well into the night.
