Every January, the idyllic island of Saint Barthélemy transforms into a haven for classical music lovers from around the world. From January 10th to 19th, 2025, the St. Barth Music Festival returns with an extraordinary lineup of world-class musicians, breathtaking venues, and performances that span genres and cultures.
Since its inception in the 1980s, the St. Barth Music Festival has grown to become one of the Caribbean’s most anticipated cultural events. Renowned musical talents usually heard in the halls of Opéra Garnier and Carnegie Hall make their way to the enchanting shores of St. Barthélemy to serenade residents and visitors alike.
The 2025 edition is set to showcase an enchanting blend of classical music, opera, ballet, and jazz. This year’s highlights include arrangements by conductor Rei Tohoda, who recently made her debut at Carnegie Hall, and performances by renowned opera talents Sarah Nordin, Sarah Joy Miller, Luis Ledesma, and David Miller, bringing timeless arias from La Bohème, Rigoletto, and La Traviata to life during the Italian Opera Night on January 17 at the Catholic Church in Lorient.
The festival’s charm lies not only in its stellar performances but also in its picturesque settings. Venues such as the historic Anglican Church in Gustavia and the Catholic Church in Lorient offer an intimate, acoustically rich atmosphere. Highlights include the Candlelight Chamber Concert on January 14, featuring a cello quartet and violins, and the Paris Opera Ballet’s dazzling performance on January 10th to 11th at AJOE in Lorient.
The festival’s finale on January 18th to 19th shifts the mood with sultry jazz nights, bringing lively rhythms and improvisations to St. Barth’s tropical landscape.
Beyond its performances, the St. Barth Music Festival fosters community spirit with educational workshops and masterclasses for local students. It’s a cultural extravaganza that elevates the island’s allure beyond its pristine beaches and luxurious ambiance.
